Our Eternal Reward

John 14:1-7

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.” John 14:1-2 (NAS)

I love watching the TV show, “Extreme Makeover.” It’s not about the usual transformation of face or body; it consists of changing a family’s life by giving them a fresh start in a new home and renewed hope.

The stories of those chosen are heart wrenching. Some families are financially strapped because of illness or hardships. Others are crammed into a very small space or live in  an unsafe home.

With the help of hundreds of volunteers, compassionate builders and large companies donate their time and money to build a new home for the family selected. In one week, while the family is sent on a vacation, the workers demolish their old home and build a house beyond everyone’s wildest expectations. When the family returns, they are overwhelmed with gratitude and tears of joy.

One day, we will receive a new home, much grander than any earthly structure—one where moth and rust will not destroy, and where thieves will not break in and steal. (Matthew 6:20 paraphrase)

If humans can build beautiful custom homes, imagine what the Master Creator plans to construct for us! With Him as the architect and no budget limits, the results will bring us to our knees.

The best part is that God’s offer of an eternal mansion is not for just a select few, but for everyone who believes in him.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for the promise of a new eternal home. Amen.

Welcome.

Glad you stopped by again. I hope my devotion will uplift you and remind you how great our God is.

No matter what we amass in this life, nothing will compare with our heavenly home. Not only will it be beautiful, we will spend our days with Jesus forever.

Have a blessed week and share this site with your friends. I plan on posting more often.
